Shenzhen Energy Group was established in June 1993, following approval for its predecessor, Shenzhen Energy Investment, earlier that year. Its shares were listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in September 1993 under stock code 000027. The original project profile describes it as an early listed power-sector company and Shenzhen's first listed public utility company.
